School. Just a lot of school.

Want to hear more than just that?

Well, classes so far have made me actually care about the caramel popcorn known as Cracker Jack; introduced me to a new, deadly form of art making known as Print Etching (sharp objects and acid, yay!); showed me that math is actually easy (my professor gives us the answers), and finally made me wonder why I bother to pay $800 for a painting class to just paint and show my work...oh, that's right, I want my degree.

Anyways, back to Print Etching, that class is the most complex, dangerous, and interesting requirement for my Visual Arts degree I have taken yet.

This is what I have done so far:

vimeo.com/29496059

One plate, four prints, made into one video. As simple and lame as it is, it took me a long time to do that; it's hard to draw into copper. :C

I laughed :D

Thanks to the lovely :iconakreon: for the feature I have had a huge influx of visitors, watchers, and favorites recently. Since I don't have the time to thank each and every one of you, I'll just do it in mass.

So thank you for all the favorites, comments, and welcome to all my new watchers. I honestly do appreciate your interest in my art and I hope to not disappoint you all.

Thanks to houoh for the one-year gift subscription to DA, I can't offer my thanks to you enough. Now with that said I can find some use for this useless journal. Thanks again houoh !
  • Mood: Questionable
How is everyone doing? I believe I am getting out of touch with my fellow members and friends of DA so I am here to give a quick update.

First off, Spring Break was last week and it was wonderful. I visited my grandparents in Tubac, Arizona which had a few firsts, such as it was the first time I had flown in a plane in 12 years or my first encounter with the Border Patrol. Anyways, I posted a few pictures of it at my blog for those who care to read on.

lindseywakefield.blogspot.com/…

*SPOILER ALERT* I launched a nuke.

I was also very productive: I shaved my dog which took 3 hours total to do, I built three wood panels and saved a butt load of money from buying prebuilt ones, and I beat Terra's story in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Now I just have Ventus and Aqua to go. :D

Yes, this game is awesome. Huge improvement from the horrible voice acting from Kingdom Hearts 2

Anyways, I am going to try and post some thing this week. Whether it be a full blown painting or a simple sketch I don't know, but I will do it!

Thanks for reading! :D
  • Mood: Questionable
Hey hey everybody, a lot of stuff happening lately (not really) but I am I here to pose another serious question for you all. I usually don't get answers that I expect, but it doesn't to always ask.

So anybody have suggestions for good internships or summer programs relating to video games, movies, or art in general? I, as usual, am hopeless in this situation and have been only able to uncover internships from obvious, big name companies, such as Pixar or EA. I would just like to see what everyone's opinions were.

Also, holy muck, I'm nearing 100,000 pageviews and my birthday. :noes:

P.S. I live in Texas, USA. I forgot that important little tidbit.
  • Mood: Crazy
I posted some photos on my blog showing the storm that has left me bored, trapped, living on turkey sandwiches, and nearly insane all this week due to the University closing. Also, there's a bonus sketch of my next Pokemon project if my wonderful photos aren't incentive enough.

So what are you waiting for?! GO. DO IT. NOW.

Here is a video of a girl messing around with a webcam effect. It's such a simple, strange video, but I got such a good laugh out of it. Thought some of you would enjoy the oddity as well.
  • Mood: Eager
So after drawing multiple animal portraits as gifts for my family members everybody keeps telling my that animal lovers would buy my art in a heart beat, especially since I live in the rich (boring, snobby) suburb of Plano, TX. Thing is, I have no idea where to start. For people with or without experience, how did you get started or does anybody have any suggestions for local commissions or commissions in general? I would like to make some money but I am hopeless with marketing. Any tips?
  • Mood: Artistic
Hey all, I finally got around to creating a blog which I will be updating regularly with sketches, works in progress, and so on. Basically stuff I wouldn't typically post up on DA because I don't want to spam my watchers watch boxes with crap (I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know it's not crap :< ). So if you all want stop on by and follow me,  I'll be updating it far more than my DA page. I already have a few new things already posted. ;)

Next to note is commissions. That's right, I'm actually interested in making money so if anybody is interested then contact me via note or email (lwakefield3@gmail.com)

Price range will vary depending on time and complexity, but basically they'll go from $5 to $50 (give or take a few dollars). Nothing to expensive.

Here are some examples:

$5 - single portrait - fav.me/d2qwrqr

$12 - full body portrait - fav.me/d2qwr9q

$30 - rendered portrait - fav.me/d2o8iaz

$50 - full body rendering - fav.me/d2qk7yv

I'll do pretty much anything that's in my skill range, except for porn. That's a big no no.

Anyways, if you are interested contact me! It's my first time doing this so please forgive of my ignorance. :c

He was missing for a few days, but he was an out door cat so my family and I didn't worry much. You know, maybe he adventured a little too far and got lost, or maybe the animal shelter picked him up, who knows.

Ugh, we thought that until I found his corpse laying in the field. Poor Big Kitty (yeah that's his name), I'm sure he lived and died the way he wanted to, through nature.

RIP Big Kitty.
Right, I am sure the majority is aware of a spam bot taking over DA, the whole CLICK HERE stuff. First off, don't click those, that's bad. Second, am I the only one that finds this hilarious? Who ever contemplated this is a master mind, and is probably laughing their ass off at the chaos going on. I just think some of the spam comments  are funny, like "LOL everyone should see this ... it's HILARIOUS just Click here". Ugh, I probably won't be laughing once they attack my page, well, maybe just a chuckle. lol.

Anyways, I am still wondering if anybody wants sketch commissions from me. They range from $5-$25 depending on the details. I've only had one interested so far, and I am hoping I can get a few more. Let me know!

I wish my dogs stayed that cute. :icondesudesuplz:
A friend of a friend of mine took some pictures of my dogs while at the dog park. I'm posting them in my journal because even though they are my dogs, they arn't my photos. Anyways, if you all want you can post some of your pet pictures in here as well. I'd love to see.

Maxx
Maxx is chow / australian shepherd mix. Why do we spell his name with two X's? Because he is a badass, he did single handily take out my cat by sitting on him a few years back.

Elly
She's are newest addition, a pitbull / labrador retriever mix. She tends to be the social butterfly and plays with every dog that comes into range, that's why there isn't many clear shots of her. One's good enough though, the death stare!

My brother took a picture with his cell phone of my cat, Frosty, and dog, Maxx, and captured a special bonding moment between cat and dog.

:bulletpurple: FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus - Vice
:bulletblue: Lots and lots of sketches.
Today at 9:07 AM EST I stumbled into the backyard to let out my dogs. But what was to occur next could not be explained by words. My words were obscured by emotions screaming out of my soul, for what I found was my dearest best friend murdered in cold blood.

No it wasn't a human, which some of you might assume. Instead, it was my pet duck, P.J., who had been with me for 8 long years.

I have been through this type of situation before, where I had my batch of 10-15 ducklings poisoned and my female duck taken away (Another sad story which I am not willing to tell).  For some reason though, this is more emotional for me than anything else.

To continue my story, as I stumbled into the backyard I saw no sign or trace of my dearest P.J. Usually he comes running to me like a dog, but not even a sign of quack could I trace. I looked around and saw feathers, everywhere. It did catch me as a little odd, but not to the point of assuming he was dead (since he was molting his feathers anyways).

I scratched out some factors which could have happened to him, like for him to fly away. During molting season for ducks, they tend to loose all their feathers at once so they can't fly during that time. Only defense they have is escape into the water.

Factoring out didn't matter anymore, because my brain was taken over by my heart. I looked over in the corner and saw a pile of feathers, with a dead corpse lying next to it.

I stopped right where I was at and burst into tears…

:tears:

I'm so sorry P.J. I wasn't there for you; if only I wasn't sleeping I could have been there for you.

This is really tearing my apart, not only the fact that he died, but he died in such a horrible way. As I heard from my mom that he didn't have a head…:X

So to tell you all if I seem a little sad or I talk a little cold, you know the reason why now.

May dear P.J. rest in peace. :please:

If you want to request for one, all you got to do is:

:bulletred: Note me, comment me, anything to get my attention. ^^;
:bulletpurple: Details. Whether it is the characters, location, date, and/ or actions; I need a detailed description of what you want.
:bulletblue: Reference pictures if available. It would be nice to have some assistance. ^^;
:bulletgreen: Patience. Due to my slow work habit and procrastination, don't expect to have the picture done anytime soon. ^^;

Finally, due to my standards…I don't do any yaoi, yuri, or nudity pics. It's just not in me to make the characters I love do that kind of stuff…:paranoid:
