First thing I saw when I first saw the scribble I was working with, which shows how uncreative I am. I mean really, another creature/monster/ fish thing? How original!
Anyways, I had fun with this in the 5 hours it took me to finish, and it was entirely inspired by Shark Week (although it looks nothing like one, ha ha). The goal was to explore values among weird shapes and not create a believable creature by any means; however, I still need work on both fields.
Just in case for those who can't see it, the scribble lines define some of the head and features of the gills/fins to the bottom right; I left them pretty obvious for people to see (even though it butchers it :<).
Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys, Happy Birthday DA, and thanks for looking!
your sense of shading and lighting is probably THE best I have seen as of yet: You manage to make your subjects look so real with such little detail compared to the lengths others go to to draw something life-like.
Well thank you very much. Honestly I was one of those people before, trying to squeeze in every detail that I could, but then I discovered textured brushes.
